Alpha (noun):
1) Having the highest rank in a dominance hierarchy
2) The most powerful man in a group
3) Liam Black
He was a stranger to me, a dark and dangerous presence who materialized from the shadows one rainy night to save me from a vicious attack. I didn’t know his name or where he was from. All I knew was that the only place I’d ever felt safe was in his arms.
But safety is an illusion.
And not every savior is a hero.
And—as I’d soon find out—having an alpha save your life comes with a price.
Liam Black wanted something from me in return.

〷 REVIEW 〷
My wolf. My deadly protector, dark knight in Armani armor ripping to shreds those who dare to harm me.
Beautifully Cruel was a hell of a hot book. But I regress, J.T. Geissinger's books always are. I've come at a point where she's an auto click author for me. It wasn't my first book from her and it won't be the last. There's really a reason why I love her books. From her impeccable writing to her intense characters, everything's right up my alley. And this one was no different. I really enjoyed the beginning of this story and let me tell you, I was practically salivating at what was to come. It was sinfully delicious and smoldering hot with some off-the-charts chemistry. I love filthy and scandalously explicit scenes but more than that, I loved how Geissinger's words fed my addiction. It's all kinds of sexy. There is nothing lacking in that department.
Good guy who does bad things…or bad guy who does good things?
They say devils are made, not born and Liam Black is no different. He was the ultimate alpha male. So possessive, intense and obstinate. At first, I really thought Liam was a bad guy who does good things. But by the end, it was clear it was the opposite. It was not the change I was expecting cause I initially thought it was a mafia romance. It's not really mafia and not as action-packed as I would've liked but good nonetheless. This is a story that will keep you captive from the very first word until the very last word. The heat level was insane! Liam and Tru were explosive together. She certainly tamed the wolf in a certain way. Both have experienced traumatic pasts and carry scars buried deep below the surface. Their instant connection expands into a raw and obsessive romance as the story progresses.
She’s my match. The yang to my yin. The light to my darkness. She’s what I didn’t know I’d been missing all these years: a soft place to fall.
These characters give you a run for your money, the interactions and the dynamic between Tru and Liam was mesmerizing.
〷 CONCLUSION 〷
A great story that was so engaging, with a kickass, spunky heroine and a sexy, bossy guy that will leave you wanting more and more of his sexy smoldering ways.

- ❝You can try to dress up a lion all you want, but it’ll still be obvious that he’s king of the jungle.❞
- ❝Life is unfairly hard for introverts. Something as common as interacting with another breathing human can knock us off kilter for days. In fact, I’m not sure socializing has even one tangible benefit. If I didn’t have to work for a living, I’d never leave my apartment.❞

- ❝“Falling in love is a luxury I don’t allow myself.”❞
- ❝"You’re not my fuck toy,” he says against my neck, his voice husky. “You’re my queen bee. My unhealthy obsession. The reason I haven’t been able to sleep in a goddamn year.”❞
- ❝He fucks me so hard it’s like he wants to crawl inside me. Like he wants to break me apart. Like he’s breaking apart, and the only thing that can save him is surrender.❞
- ❝She’s my match. The yang to my yin. The light to my darkness. She’s what I didn’t know I’d been missing all these years: a soft place to fall.❞
- ❝Love doesn’t listen to logic. Like time, love has its own physics, universal rules that we’re helpless to control.❞
- ❝Goddamn bossy men. I should start a women’s group for survivors of alpha males. There are probably millions of us worldwide, nursing bruised hopes, hearts, and uteruses.❞
- ❝I was wrong, before. Love isn’t a nightmare. It’s a miracle. A blessing. It’s knowing you’re finally home.❞
- ❝Freedom for the wolves has often meant death to the sheep.❞
- ❝Give me twenty-eight days, and in return I’ll give you everything on earth I have to give.❞
